报告题目：谷歌地图十一年：过去！与 未来？（Eleven Years of Google Maps：Past! and Future?）

内容简介：

Google Maps, with its satellite image mapping technology and Street View technology, has completely changed the way of ordinary people using maps. It has become an indispensable tool in our daily lives. More than one billion people use Google Maps on a regular basis. However, Google Maps was not the first online mapping technology. Before Google Maps, MapQuest already dominated the online mapping market. We at the University of New Brunswick, Canada, also developed relevant technologies, which were later on directly or indirectly used by Google Maps. Why could Google Maps surpass the dominant player MapQuest in the past? Where will Google Maps go in the future? This presentation will (1) review the development milestones of Google Maps based on Google’s report, (2) review our contributions to Google Maps, and (3) explore the future of Google Maps based on our current research and development in the area of 3D online mapping which is completely different than the state-of-the-art 3D mapping technology. At the end, a live demo of our online 3D mapping technology will be provided.

个人简介：章云（Yun Zhang）博士,加拿大高级测绘图像处理领域首席科学家（Canada Research Chair in Advanced Geomatics Image Processing），加拿大新布伦瑞克大学教授，麻省理工学院访问教授（2015年）。他发表了超过200篇研究论文，是6项授权专利和5项在申请专利的发明人，研究成果获得十余项商业技术授权，被PCI， DigitalGlobal等国际知名公司广泛采用。他先后荣获了多项科学荣誉奖，其中包括：2011年加拿大国家自然科学与工程研究基金委员会（NSERC）协同创新奖（该奖项由加拿大总督和总司令授予）; 2012年国际摄影测量与遥感学会(ISPRS)Giuseppe Inghilleri 奖（该奖4年颁发一次，旨在表彰在摄影测量遥感或空间信息科学领域做出重要贡献的人士）等。2006年，他的一项成果被选入“世界100项研究成果技术转让案例” (Technology Transfer Works: 100 Cases from Research to Realization )。
